In January, Governor Abbott appointed Lt. Col. Kerry Reyna to the Humanities Texas Board of Directors. Current board members April Graham and Amanda S. Nobles were reappointed by the governor for terms through 2026.

The Humanities Texas Board of Directors formulates policy, approves programs and projects, reviews grant applications, participates in fundraising, and promotes organizational activities. Directors are selected for knowledge of or involvement in the humanities and represent both the academic and public spheres. The Governor appoints as many as six members, with the rest elected through an open nominations process.

The Humanities Texas Board of Directors meets at the Harry Ransom Center in Austin in November 2022.

Kerry Reyna

Lt. Col. Kerry Reyna is a retired military officer who currently resides in San Antonio. She received her bachelor's degree in teaching from Sam Houston State University with an all-level teaching certificate in physical education. She has taught at the elementary, high school, and collegiate levels. She volunteers with numerous organizations, including the Texas Paralyzed Veterans of America.
