Experiencing the Harlem Renaissance (Spring 2025 Webinar)

 
On January 14, 2025, Humanities Texas will hold a webinar on strategies for teaching the Harlem Renaissance by incorporating digital humanities tools, augmented and virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.

Schedule and Curriculum

The webinar will take place over Zoom from 5:00–6:15 p.m. CT on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Content will be aligned with the secondary-level English language arts (ELA) TEKS. This webinar will provide actionable strategies for enhancing classroom learning about the Harlem Renaissance era through the use of digital and resources, augmented and virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. The session will introduce educators to powerful tools and applications, demonstrating how to engage students with the period and its key figures through immersive experiences relating to Harlem, New York.

Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar will emphasize close interaction with scholars, the examination of texts, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.

Faculty

The webinar will be led by Bryan Carter (The University of Arizona). 

Eligibility

The webinar is open to secondary-level humanities teachers in Texas schools. 

Attendance and CPE Credit

The online program is free to teachers and their schools. Participants will receive CPE credit and a wealth of curricular materials. CPE hours will be based on Zoom attendance and adjusted if a participant misses any portion of the program. In order to attend the webinar and receive CPE credit, you must be a registered participant.
