Education
On November 8, 2023, Humanities Texas held a webinar introducing a variety of social annotation tools for research and writing instruction at the secondary level.
This program for social studies and English language arts teachers provided strategies to help teachers and students use social annotation tools for collaborative notetaking, peer-to-peer discussion, and engaged interaction with texts. The webinar supported students' development in the skills of digital and media literacy, critical thinking and analysis, and research and writing. Strategies and content were aligned with the secondary-level humanities TEKS.
Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar emphasized close interaction with the scholar, the examination of relevant technology, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.
Amanda Licastro of Swarthmore College led the webinar.
The webinar took place over Zoom on November 8. The schedule is available here.
The webinar was made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
