On October 11, 2023, Humanities Texas held a webinar considering the implications of Chat GPT and AI technologies for teaching research and writing at the secondary level.
This program for social studies and English language arts teachers provided strategies to help teachers and students navigate the new technologies of Chat GPT and AI. The webinar aimed to support students' development in the skills of digital and media literacy, critical thinking and analysis, and research and writing. Strategies and content were aligned with the secondary-level humanities TEKS.
Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar emphasized close interaction with the scholar, the examination of relevant technology, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.
Jason Crider of Texas A&M University led the webinar.
The webinar took place over Zoom on October 11. The schedule is available here.
The webinar was made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
