On October 10, 2020, Texas Christian University will host "The Bluest Eye @ 50," an online symposium featuring teachers and scholars reflecting on Toni Morrison's groundbreaking novel and its contemporary relevance fifty years after its first appearance.

The two-part program will be held via Zoom. From 10:00 a.m. to noon, join secondary-level and university educators in a moderated discussion of ideas for teaching the novel. The second session, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., will address new approaches to thinking about and conducting research on The Bluest Eye with scholars from the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Additional opportunities for participation can be found on the project's website, including discussion spaces for educators to share teaching strategies and for readers to reflect on Morrison's writings.

This program is free and open to the public. Participants can register for the October 10 teaching symposium and research symposium on Eventbrite.

Humanities Texas is pleased to be a co-sponsor of this event.
