The Bonneville Dam, located on the Columbia River near Portland, Oregon, was one of many dams and other public buildings built under the New Deal. Constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1934 and 1938, with funding from the Public Works Administration, the project reflected President Franklin D. Roosevelt's vision of providing jobs by building infrastructure.
