In June 2017, Humanities Texas held six teacher institutes across the state. Programs included "Founding a New Nation" in Austin, "Writing Texas" in San Marcos and Houston, "The Cold War" in Lubbock, "The Two World Wars" in College Station, and "Three Centuries of Texas History" in Denton. The institutes featured close interaction with scholars, the examination of primary sources, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.
