The Hillcrest Foundation, founded by Mrs. W. W. Caruth, Sr., has awarded Humanities Texas $25,000 in support of the restoration of the Byrne-Reed House and the public programming that the restored building will allow. The grant, announced on December 18, 2008, will help expand Humanities Texas's Teacher Enrichment Program.
"The Hillcrest Foundation's generous support comes at a critical time in our capital campaign. This funding brings us closer to being able to host one-day teacher seminars, public lectures, exhibitions, and other activities in the restored Byrne-Reed House," said Humanities Texas Executive Director Michael L. Gillette.
The Foundation's grant will be used to match NEH's $1,000,000 challenge grant and brings the total of contributions and pledges to $3,767,858.
