On February 17, 2012, Humanities Texas held a teacher enrichment workshop on slavery, secession, the Civil War, and Reconstruction at Houston Independent School District. Distinguished scholars Albert S. Broussard (Texas A&M University), Eric Walther (University of Houston), Jennifer L. Weber (University of Kansas), and Michael Les Benedict (The Ohio State University) gave insightful lectures and shared primary sources in small-group workshops.
