On March 31, 2020, Humanities Texas will hold a one-day teacher workshop in Dallas focusing on teaching F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby as well as Fitzgerald's short fiction and film adaptations of his work. Faculty presentations will examine Fitzgerald's narrative strategy in the novel, Fitzgerald in the broader context of the Jazz Age, understanding and teaching Fitzgerald's short fiction, and using film adaptations of Gatsby to engage students in the secondary classroom. Workshop faculty includes Greg Barnhisel (Duquesne University), Donna Kornhaber (The University of Texas at Austin), Jennifer Nolan (North Carolina State University), and Peter Turchi (University of Houston).

Teachers at all workshops will receive books and other instructional materials. Content at all of our spring workshops will be aligned with the TEKS.
