In February 2014, Humanities Texas held a one-day teacher workshop in Austin focusing on the literature and history of the Harlem Renaissance.

Faculty presentations provided a historical introduction to the Harlem Renaissance and focused consideration on the writings of Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, and Countee Cullen, among others. Faculty also helped participants develop ideas for effective writing and research assignments related to the Harlem Renaissance.

Workshop faculty included Cary D. Wintz (Texas Southern University), and Brian A. Bremen, Jennifer M. Wilks, and Shirley E. Thompson, all of The University of Texas at Austin.
