Education
On March 25, 2024, Humanities Texas held a webinar in partnership with Asia Society Texas on teaching Asian and Asian American art, history, and culture at the secondary level.
During this interactive webinar, educators learned how to bring Asian and Asian American art, history, and culture to life in the secondary-level classroom and gained knowledge, skills, and strategies for cultural teaching through engaging student-facing webcomics created by Asia Society Texas. Specific lesson tools were reviewed and shared with participants. Teachers received resources to apply immediately or use during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Led by museum education professionals, the webinar, like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, emphasized the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities.
Phuong Ha and Jennifer Krapal of Asia Society Texas led the webinar.
The webinar took place over Zoom on March 25. The schedule is available here.
The webinar was made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
