Education
On November 12 and 19, 2024, Humanities Texas held two webinars for English language arts teachers on teaching Native American literature at the secondary level.
Content aligned with the TEKS. The webinars focused broadly on the history of Native American literature and narrowly on the most influential and frequently taught works. Like all Humanities Texas teacher programs, the webinar series was content-based and teacher-centered, with an emphasis on developing effective pedagogical strategies. Both webinars highlighted the most important takeaways for middle and high school students.
James H. Cox (The University of Texas at Austin) led the webinar series.
The series took place over Zoom from 5:00–6:15 pm on November 12 and 19. The webinar schedule can be viewed here.
The webinars were made possible with major funding from the State of Texas with ongoing support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
