On March 21, 2024, Humanities Texas hosted a conversation with Randy Roberts, distinguished professor of history at Purdue University and biographer of boxer Jack Johnson. Moderated by Aram Goudsouzian, professor of history at the University of Memphis, the conversation explored the Johnson's remarkable rise from the streets of Galveston to become one of the most famous and reviled sports figures of his era. A moderated Q&A session with the audience followed.
