The United States faced many challenges during Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency, including World War II. This lithograph depicts an African-American machine operator during World War II. While the print heavily uses dark tones, Moskowtiz comments on the importance of the worker and his machine by highlighting the man’s face and hands and multiple facets of the machine.
