How to apply

Programs targeting special audiences such as K-12 teachers, ethnic and community groups, or professional groups are also welcome.

Potential applicants are encouraged to contact Humanities Texas prior to submitting an application. Email grants@humanitiestexas.org or call (512) 440-1991.

How funding decisions are made

The Humanities Texas Board of Directors reviews major grant proposals; the Executive Director and staff, with the authorization of the Board, review mini-grants. Two men talking after TAAHOProjects are evaluated on the basis of Humanities Texas's organizational mission and grants guidelines. Of particular importance are the quality of each project's conception and design, the strength of its humanities component, and the extent to which it will meet the particular intellectual, cultural, or professional needs and interests of its target audience(s) in Texas. Priority is given to applications from Texas-based sponsoring organizations.

Call for We the People proposals

The National Endowment for the Humanities launched the We the People initiative in 2002 to increase Americans' understanding of their history and the world around them. As part of this initiative, Humanities Texas invites applications for projects that explore significant events and themes in our nation's history and culture and that advance knowledge of the principles that define America. Mini-grants of up to $1,500 are immediately available; proposals for major grants are invited for the March 15, 2009, grants cycle. Please follow our grant guidelines and use our standard grants forms—all available in the tables above—to request funding from Humanities Texas for a We the People-eligible project.
